1. Introduction
Hi, everyone; please treat this as a draft for the new Coti Node Runner code of conduct.
This is a crucial step in fostering a positive and respectful community environment. This code of conduct should serve as a guideline for behavior, ensuring that all node runners, both MainNet and TestNet, act in a way that supports the integrity and growth of the project.
Mutual Respect: All interactions among node runners and with the community must be conducted with respect and professionalism.
Inclusivity: As node runners, we will aim to promote an environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all, regardless of background, experience level, or personal characteristics.
Harassment-Free Environment: It is explicitly prohibited to harass in any form, including but not limited to bullying, discrimination, and personal attacks.
Accurate Representation: All node runners are always expected to use honesty and integrity in all communications. Node runners should accurately represent their skills, experiences, and contributions. Gaslighting of any form is forbidden.
Transparency: Node runners should at all times promote transparency in actions and decisions, especially those that impact the community or the project. When giving opinions or having discussions, node runners should declare any known biases/information that they have (for example, in governance voting or any potential knowledge of future events occurring)
No FUD Policy: FUD is a manipulative propaganda tactic used to influence perception by disseminating negative and dubious or false information and is a manifestation of the appeal to fear; unfounded rumors also count as FUD.
The intentional spread of misinformation or unfounded negative speculation about COTI or any other projects is strictly prohibited.
Constructive Criticism: As node runners, we encourage constructive criticism and open discussions however, constructive criticism is differentiated from FUD. One example of constructive criticism would be offering feedback on how an item may not be correct and how that item might be improved.
Legal Compliance: All node runners must adhere to all applicable laws and regulations in their country, including those related to data privacy, financial transactions, and general online use.
Node runners must never discuss price or trading in official COTI channels.
Reporting Mechanism: With the number of node runners increasing, it's evident that there will, at times, be issues raised about certain members where those members may stray outside these guidelines. At any time node runners can be reported to the node runner channel by other members (we will self-police)
Conflict Resolution: Node runners will come to a majority decision about any steps needed on how to resolve any conflicts.
Accountability: Any violations against this code of conduct will have consequences, which may include, in extreme cases, removal as a node runner, temporary loss of access to certain channels, loss of privileges, or other actions as deemed appropriate.
Ongoing Improvement: This code of conduct is intended to be a living document and may be amended as the project evolves.
Feedback Loop: We encourage feedback from the community to improve the code of conduct continuously.
Commitment to Excellence: The COTI node runner community (both Main and Test nets) are committed to maintaining a high standard of conduct, fostering a positive environment, and ensuring the success and integrity of the COTI project.
